NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
At least three people died in a suspected gas leak incident in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district early on Sunday morning, police officials said. The incident occurred around 1 am in the Munidih area, triggering panic in the locality and prompting an immediate police investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the victims were allegedly attempting to steal iron scrap when the incident took place. During the attempt, they are believed to have cut into a pressurised gas cylinder, which caused a strong gas leak and filled the surrounding area with toxic fumes. The intense smell reportedly caused the victims to lose consciousness. Police officials confirmed that five people were taken to hospital following the incident. Doctors said two of them were brought dead, while another person died during treatment at Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact sequence of events and whether the gas leak occurred directly due to the damaged cylinder. Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged scrap theft that may have led to the fatal accident.
